I've always liked intricate things, patterns that tell a story. Slowly, I began to grasp my own language in storytelling. In this piece, I created a work so detailed that it is suffocating, which leads to its idea: the luxurious clothing women wore was a symbol of societal constraints and duty. The crown is a rendition of the traditional Ming dynasty crown, three-dimensional and overwhelming! Its jewels and gold are more captivating to the eye than the girl's face. Despite the beauty and radiance the crown has, she seems to be in fear of it. Her eyes are two pitch black abysses, and the background is dark, a mixture of colors to reach that "black," with the threatening clouds an almost dirty yellowish gray, illustrating the pressuring atmosphere. She's overwhelmed by her crown and elements, because it's something that society has forced on her.
