In this artwork, a girl is in the middle flying over the ocean into the distance. Her right wing is the wing of a traditional Chinese kite, and her left wing is the wing of the flying fish. The kite has a floral pattern printed onto its back, representing my cultural identity. Above it is a thin string tying the key to the cage in the lower left corner, representing breaking out of the prison of previous passages and going to freedom. The wings of the flying fish on the left symbolize the background of my journey from China to the United States, the journey from the sea to the air, and the morning clouds on the back represent the anticipation of the future.
